Volcanic Bike frames utilize rectangular, round and oval tubing. Why? While round tubes resist torsional forces alone, the forces on a patrol bike frame, especially on a heavily loaded hard tail, are never purely torsional. Any given tube will have to handle torsional, bending, compression, tension, and shear forces.

No single tubing profile is best suited for all of these different circumstances The specific tube profiles that are used by Volcanic Bikes have been chosen to meet and exceed the rigorous demands of the bicycle patrol industry. For every frame model, Volcanic considers the intended use and chooses specific geometry and tubing profiles. Our frames are designed and built for maximum strength, precision handling and durability.
